Dr. Roger Clark

Roger Clark works as part of the legal team representing the Marshall Islands in its cases against the states possessing nuclear weapons for failure to disarm as obligated in the NPT. In the past, he has served as a member of the UN Committee on Crimes Prevention and Control between 1987 and 1990; worked for the New Zealand Justice Department and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, served as a Fellow for the American Council of Learned Studies, and as a Doctoral Fellow at the Columbia University School of Law; and currently teaches at Rutgers University where he has worked to incorporate international legal studies into American legal studies

Frank von Hipple is co-chair of the International Panel on Fissile Materials and Professor Emeritus at Princeton University with research and writing focused on policy in nuclear arms control, nonproliferation, energy, checks and balances in policy-making for technology, nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament initiatives, the future of nuclear energy, and improved automobile fuel economy. This research follows a career as former assistant director for national security in the White House Office of Science and Technology, 1993 MacArthur Fellow and a extensive research in elementary-particle theoretical physics.

![]() Dr. Joseph Gerson was awarded the 5th annual John C. & Chara C. Haas Award for International Peace and Social Justice to celebrate his lifetime commitment and service to nuclear abolition, in honor of John C. Haas, co-founder of Project for Nuclear Awareness. Dr. Gerson is Director of Programs for the Northeast Region and the Director of Peace and Economic Security Program for the American Friends Service Committee. His many publications, his thoughtful analyses, and his tireless, effective advocacy have been a source of global inspiration.

![]() Our distinguished guest speaker at the Oct. 24, 2013 Disarmament in Light of Humanitarian Need event was Dr. Julie Sullivan, President and CEO of the International Foundation for Education and Self-Help. From Philadelphia, and the daughter of Reverend Leon Sullivan, Zion Baptist Church minister, civil rights leader and a social and economic justice activist supporting the anti-Apartheid Movement in South Africa, Dr. Sullivan will speak about global humanitarian needs in light of the tax dollar spent on the global weapons industry.
