Testimonials
My Fellowship with the Project for Nuclear Awareness has been both challenging and rewarding since day one. During my Fellowship I have significantly increased my knowledge of nuclear weapons policy, been given the opportunity to represent the organization at several events, attended the NPT PrepCom Conference at the United Nations, published my work on the PNA website, and have made valuable connections with professionals throughout the field of nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation. My work with PNA has also enabled me to gain first-hand experience with the inner workings of a nonprofit organization. These activities involve project planning and evaluation, attending Board of Directors meetings, and grant writing. My Fellowship at PNA provided the mentorship that has supported my growth both academically and professionally.

My name is Gabriella Nolan and I completed two Fellowship positions at PNA: the Development and Research Fellowship and the Law, Social Movements, and Development Fellowship. The PNA Fellowship Program was an indispensable experience. The program helped fostered my professional skills in various ways. The most valuable resource in the PNA Fellowship Program is the Director, Ms. Tammy Murphy. Her support and mentoring provides an invaluable resource. She is fully committed to the professional and academic development of all of her Fellows. She encourages growth while maintaining a structured oversight position. Another significant characteristic of the PNA Fellowship Program is that it allows the combination of personal interests with Fellowship roles. The latter is unique in that it fosters intellectual growth of personal interests but also facilitates the learning of new subjects and skills.
In my roles I have more than received the skills and abilities that I initially desired to receive from the program due to my responsibilities and the mentoring of the Director. In my positions I drafted grant proposals, published and updated website content, conducted legal and congressional research and database formation, produced promotional materials, and conducted extensive literature based research and wrote articles on international law, nuclear nonproliferation, and the impact of uranium extraction and nuclear energy in developing countries. These responsibilities and roles facilitated my professional, intellectual and individual growth.

As a former Social Media Fellow at PNA, I think the greatest part of the Fellowship Program was that PNA was definitely an environment of skills development and the exchange of ideas. I had many awesome opportunities such as delivering university lectures and even participating as an observer at the UN's NPT review conference! I also got to build relationships with professionals both at PNA and with like-minded NGOs around the world.

My time as a Fundraising and Development Fellow at the Project for Nuclear Awareness (PNA) was one of value and self-growth. The PNA environment provides its Fellows with the freedom and encouragement to try new things while yielding strong support. With the guidance of other Fellows and PNA directors, I was able to develop many advantageous skills which today continue to prove useful as I pursue personal career goals.
While working to fundraise and write grants, I had the opportunity to familiarize myself with local and national foundations. I gained a better understanding for non-profit management, and had the chance to sit in on PNA board meetings. In addition, Fellows had many opportunities to attend various events surrounding nuclear awareness. In such a variety of ways, my Fellowship with PNA was a true learning experience.

It has been a pleasure working with the team at PNA. PNA provided a supportive environment that allowed me to explore various roles within a nonprofit organization and develop practical skills. During the Fellowship I gained an in depth academic knowledge of nuclear weapons as well as valuable hands-on experience in strategic planning, development, social media, lobbying, advocacy and other aspects of nonprofit management.

Interning as a PNA Fellow was a wonderful experience that allowed me to get hands-on practice with working at a non-profit organization. Before I became a Fellow I knew little about nuclear issues but being around the other Fellows in the office and Tammy gave me the opportunity to gain a wide range of knowledge. As the Social Media Fellow, I was excited to learn about social media tactics and was given the chance to test out the ideas that I proposed. I was happy to have the freedom and trust to plan out long-term goals.
Being a Fellow for PNA is an amazing and unique opportunity that allows you to interact with numerous guest speakers, politicians and other Fellows. You are able to build long-lasting relationships that can help you go far. I cannot recommend the program enough because I will be able to employ the skills I learned during my Fellowship in my professional and educational careers.

My time as a PNA Fellow was unique and vastly rewarding. One of the things I appreciated most was the autonomy Tammy gave us to concentrate on our individual areas of interest. This academic independence allowed me the opportunity to explore a very particular subject matter- gaining a completely comprehensive understanding of a critical current event in foreign relations. Maintaining our own blogs and insight accounts inspired me to stay informed on concurrent, developing initiatives in the field of nuclear policy. This is a fantastic Fellowship Program and I would encourage all of those interested in international affairs to apply and contribute to ongoing outreach efforts.
